lost his job just before Christmas. It was a big shock for me but moreso for him.
After all, he had been there for just over 10 years and was (seemingly) well regarded within the corporation. In the past two years he has been travelling overseas quite a lot and getting trained for bigger and better things. Then, whammo! Comes home in the MIDDLE of the day and says ' we are rich.'
Pardon? Nope - not rich at all really. He did get a good payout but he is 50 years old. It is just weeks before Christmas (not a good time to look for work) and we have 3 children...
No mortgage thank goodness, we paid off the house quite a few years ago now but still we are used to money coming in. I do have a little part-time job of my own but I have now decided to upgrade my employment hours to I don't know - not full time but closer to...
Fast forward to 2009. Today in fact....and he has just started applying for jobs. He is also thinking about having his (our) own business. A Handyman business. If any of you know of Dick - you would know that this would be perfect for him.
Except for 2 things....
1. He will be home much much more (not too keen on that)
2. He will be home much much more!
And yes, I do love him. But he can be very trying.....
Oh and the photo is of Dick lying on the beach over the 'holidays'....
